DESCRIPTION:
Clocks- 4 (Four): (1) Brewster & Ingrahams, Bristol, Conn., Steeple shelf clock with a spring driven 30 hour time and strike movement (iron back plate) in a mahogany veneered case, c1850; (2) Chauncey Jerome, New Haven, Conn., Steeple shelf clock with a spring driven 30 hour time, strike & alarm movement in a mahogany veneered case, c1845. (3) Brewster & Ingrahams, Bristol, Conn., Steeple shelf clock with a spring driven 30 hour time and strike movement in a rosewood veneered case, c1850. (4) Daniel Pratt & Sons, Reading, Mass., "Beehive" shelf clock with a spring driven, 8 day, time and strike movement in a mahogany veneered case, c1855.
CONDITION:
(1) The case has veneer loss on the base. The case appears to have its original finish under a newer finish creating a dark appearance. The painted dial is signed. The hands are period and may be original. Both door glasses are original; (2) The case has minor veneer loss in several locations and its original finish has darkened with age. The original painted dial has some loss at the winding arbors and to the right of the time winding arbor. The hands are original. Both door glasses are original. (3) The rosewood veneered case has been refinished. The dial appears to have been repainted. The hands are original. The upper door glass is original. The door mirror appears to have been resilvered on old glass. (4) The case has minor veneer loss along the base. The case was refinished some time ago. The original painted dial has a finish coat to stop reduce the paint flaking. The hands are original. Note: The largest dimension is for clock number 4.
